PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Contract Deputy program is offered through Harris County Precinct 1 and open to subdivisions, groups of subdivisions or municipal districts who contract with the agency to provide deputies for patrol assignments that supplements existing law enforcement services. In addition to the regular patrol, other benefits of the Constable Patrol Program are:
- Constable Deputies are authorized to ticket, arrest and use force when necessary, to stop crime *
- Rapid response to our calls by Constable Deputies
- Vacation watches for residents who are out of town
- Special watches for residents who have a particular problem that needs to be addressed; deputies make periodic checks on these residences during the patrol
- Yard signage indicating the homeowners’ membership in the program
The Constable Patrol Program in the Lewisdale, Park Civic and Vermont Commons is sponsored by and administered through the volunteer efforts of the VC Security Foundation. The Contract Deputy works closely with the board members of VC Security Foundation, sharing information to help determine the needs of the contract.
* Private security officers, in contrast, lack the authority to ticket or arrest offenders.
